Kizz Daniel rebounds from song Ioss with ‘Unkle K (Lemon Chase)’ EP

Afrobeats star Kizz Daniel has released a new EP titled Unkle K (Lemon Chase) after losing over 600 unreleased songs in a technical mishap that erased his upcoming album.
The singer made the revelation during an interview on Apple Music Africa Now Radio, where he described the project as a response to an unfortunate disaster.
“The EP came about as a result of a very unfortunate incident that happened with the actual body of work, which was to be the ‘Unkle K’ album. My workstation crashed and we lost a lot of songs,” Kizz Daniel disclosed.
Despite the setback, the artist whose real name is Oluwatobiloba Daniel Anidugbe said he returned to the studio to create new songs in time for a planned tour, birthing the seven-track EP as a sonic reconstruction of the lost material. “When life throws you lemons, you make lemonade,” he said, explaining the inspiration behind the subtitle Lemon Chase.
The EP features notable collaborations, including “Al Jannah” with rapper Odumodublvck and street pop act Bella Shmurda. According to Kizz Daniel, the song is a heartfelt tribute to several loved ones he and his family have lost over the years including his father, stepmother, son, and his wife’s mother.
“‘Al-Jannah’ means paradise… It’s about our loved ones we have lost in this journey of life,” he shared.
Also featured on the EP is fast-rising artist Fola, whom Kizz Daniel described as “The Future,” and praised for his unique talent. “Nigerian fans call him ‘Striker number 9,’” he added.
Unkle K (Lemon Chase) has since received widespread acclaim from fans and critics, who hailed the project’s originality and its focus on authentic Afrobeats storytelling.
