Kano police arrest suspects in kidnapping and murder case, foil armed robbery plots

On Monday, January 27, 2025, the Kano State Police Command announced the arrest of several suspects involved in high-profile criminal activities, including kidnapping, murder, and armed robbery.

During a press briefing at the Police Headquarters in Bompai, Kano, Commissioner of Police, CP Salman Dogo Garba, revealed that three suspects were arrested in connection with the kidnapping and murder of 64-year-old Alhaji Atiku Mu’azu, a resident of Janbulo Quarters in Kano. The suspects—Abubakar Hassan (aka Captain), Adamu Abubakar Adam, and Alhaji Hamisu (aka Bakin Bross)—were apprehended after a well-coordinated intelligence-led operation.

In another case, armed robbers attacked the home of Alhaji Auwalu in Sabuwar Unguwa Garo, Kabo Local Government Area, stealing ₦8 million and kidnapping his 16-year-old daughter, Zainab Aliyu. CP Garba assured that the police are actively investigating the case to rescue the victim and capture the criminals responsible.

The police also arrested 17 suspects involved in armed robberies in Hotoro and Kawu Quarters, where they vandalized vehicles, looted shops, and assaulted residents. Additionally, three more suspects were taken into custody for robbing two victims of 200 mobile phones at Yankatsari Quarters.

CP Garba urged the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities to help maintain security and safety across Kano State.
