Joeboy releases third album ‘Viva Lavida’, spreads message of positivity
Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Joeboy has released his highly anticipated third studio album, Viva Lavida, reinforcing his reputation as one of the genre’s most exciting hitmakers. The album, which dropped on March 28, 2025, features 13 tracks and guest appearances from Olamide, Elena Dara, Wizard Chan, and Qing Madi.
In the lead-up to the album’s release, Joeboy unveiled the singles ‘SMH’, in collaboration with long-time producer Tempoe, and ‘Taxi Driver’.
Speaking about the inspiration behind Viva Lavida, Joeboy revealed that his goal was to spread positivity in a world filled with negativity.
“I feel like there’s so much negativity in the world. Everybody’s trying to be toxic, everybody’s trying to huff and puff. I just want to be that source of positivity, and that’s my message, that’s my motto.”
The singer also noted that his travels had influenced the album’s diverse sound, incorporating global inspirations into his music.
“I get to travel a lot. I get exposed to so many different ideas and different cultures – and it’s only right that I let those cultures influence me in a positive way.”
Since breaking into the industry with his 2019 hit ‘Baby’, Joeboy has consistently delivered chart-topping love anthems. His 2021 smash ‘Alcohol’ became an international success, amassing over 100 million streams on Spotify, solidifying his status as a major force in Afrobeats.
With Viva Lavida, Joeboy continues to evolve his sound while staying true to his signature heartfelt lyricism, making yet another mark on the Afrobeats scene.
