On Tuesday, October 29, Alex Ikwechegh, a lawmaker, was referred to the House Ethics Committee for an investigation after a troubling incident was captured on video.
The resolution followed a concern raised by the Majority Leader, Julius Ihonvbere. In the viral video that spread quickly on social media, Ikwechegh was seen treating a cab driver, Stephen Abuwatseya, very poorly.
During the incident, the lawmaker made a scary threat, saying he could make the Bolt driver “disappear.” This behavior has led to a lot of people expressing their disapproval, including the Ohanaeze Ndigbo group.
Now, Ikwechegh’s actions are being closely examined by his colleagues in the House. If the investigation finds him at fault, he could face suspension.
