Helicopter accident in Port Harcourt results in three fatalities
A tragic helicopter accident in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has claimed the lives of three individuals. The incident occurred at 11:22 a.m. on Thursday, as the helicopter ditched into the waters near Bonny Finima in the Atlantic Ocean.
According to Channels Television, the aircraft involved was a Sikorsky SK76 with registration number 5NBQG, operated by East Wind Aviation. It was traveling from the Port Harcourt Military Base to the Nuimantan oil rig at the time of the accident.
A spokesperson for the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Odutayo Oluseyi, confirmed that there were a total of eight people on board. Authorities have initiated rescue efforts in response to the incident.
