Governor Uba Sani releases N548 Million to Kaduna NUT, resolving long-standing dispute

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has ordered the immediate release of N548 million to the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) Endwell Scheme, settling a long-standing industrial dispute between the union and the state government. The funds, which were withheld by the previous administration, will now be managed independently by the NUT.
Announcing the development at a press conference in Kaduna, Mubarak Mohammed, the acting Executive Secretary of the Kaduna State Universal Basic Education Board (KASUBEB), confirmed that the resolution followed extensive negotiations between the Kaduna State Government and the NUT.
As part of the agreement, all pending litigations related to the NUT Endwell Fund will be discontinued. The scheme, which consists of statutory deductions from teachers’ salaries meant to support them during service and retirement, will undergo structural reforms to ensure improved efficiency and accountability.
“I am pleased to announce that Governor Uba Sani has successfully resolved the long-standing dispute between the Kaduna State Government and the NUT regarding the NUT Endwell Fund,” Mohammed stated.
He emphasized that since assuming office in May 2023, Governor Uba Sani has demonstrated exceptional commitment to education, including improving medical access, increasing student enrollment and retention, and enhancing overall learning conditions in both primary and secondary schools.
The Chairman of the Kaduna State NUT, Ibrahim Dalhatu, expressed gratitude to the governor, stating that the release of the funds would significantly improve the welfare of teachers in the state.
“The release of the N548 million to the NUT Endwell Fund is a significant milestone in our efforts to improve teachers’ welfare in Kaduna State,” Dalhatu said.
Governor Uba Sani’s intervention in resolving the dispute has been widely praised as a demonstration of leadership, fairness, and commitment to the development of Kaduna State’s education sector.
