Governor Uba Sani offers jobs and skills training to released protesters

Governor Uba Sani has promised to rehabilitate and empower the released #EndBadGovernance protesters from Kaduna State, provided they turn a new leaf and become responsible, law-abiding members of society.

Speaking to journalists after the protesters’ release, the Secretary to the Kaduna State Government, Dr. Abdulkadir Muazu Meyere, said that the Governor had instructed him to collect the credentials of those who had completed their tertiary education.

“The Governor promised that some of them will receive start-up capital to begin trading, while others will be taught new skills, and some will be given employment opportunities,” he added.

However, Dr. Meyere emphasized that the government would closely monitor the activities and conduct of all 39 individuals to ensure they demonstrate good behavior before these benefits are extended to them.

He disclosed that the Kaduna State Government had taken the personal details of the released detainees, including contact information, telephone numbers, and names of their next of kin, to facilitate tracking and monitoring.

According to him, the detainees underwent medical examinations and received psycho-social counseling on the importance of personal change to become more productive members of society.

“Both Islamic and Christian religious leaders preached to them, encouraging them to embrace the teachings of their faiths and avoid bad company, so they may benefit from God’s blessings here and in the hereafter,” the SSG added.

Dr. Meyere further revealed that the detainees were each provided with a new mobile phone, as their previous phones had been lost during detention, and that Governor Sani had graciously given each of them N100,000 as a measure of goodwill.

Finally, Dr. Meyere confirmed that the detainees had been transported back to their respective homes.
