Governor Eno sets new minimum wage to N80,000 in Akwa Ibom
On Wednesday, October 23, Governor Umo Eno announced a new minimum wage of N80,000 for workers in the Akwa Ibom State government.
To make sure this wage increase is implemented smoothly, the Governor has created an Implementation Committee. This committee has one month to finalize the details of how the new wage will be put into action.
The committee is chaired by the State’s Head of Civil Service and includes key members such as the Accountant General of the State, the State Chairman of the Joint Public Service Negotiating Council, and the State Chairmen of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Trade Union Congress, and the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees.
Ini Ememobong, the State Commissioner for Information, confirmed the announcement, stating that it reflects the government’s commitment to improving the welfare of its workers.
