GOAT debate: Omar Al Somah names Cristiano Ronaldo as the greatest of all time

On Monday, March 17, 2025, Al-Orobah forward Omar Al Somah made a bold statement, declaring Cristiano Ronaldo as the best player in the world right now and the greatest of all time.
The Syrian striker, who placed Ronaldo above Lionel Messi and other football legends, highlighted the Portuguese icon’s longevity, versatility, and immense achievements throughout his career.
Al Somah expressed that there’s no need for the ongoing debate between Messi and Ronaldo. He believes Ronaldo’s success speaks for itself.
“Ronaldo, for me, is the best player in the world, and in the history of football,” Al Somah told the Saudi Pro League in an interview. “What he achieved in football is incredible. Even today, at 40 years old, he’s still performing at a top level and scoring goals that 20-year-olds can’t score.”
He added, “Some people might not like this opinion, but for me, he is the greatest footballer of all time. With all due respect to all legends—Pele, [Diego] Maradona, [Lionel] Messi, and [Zinedine] Zidane—Ronaldo is the greatest because he’s a complete player. Everything you need in a forward, Cristiano has.”
Ronaldo, currently playing in the Saudi Pro League, is leading the goal-scoring charts this season with 18 goals in 23 games, further solidifying his claim as the greatest in the eyes of many.
