Gary Neville urges Manchester United to target “unbelievable” Inter star after Champions League heroics

Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville has publicly urged his old club to pursue Inter Milan wing-back Denzel Dumfries, following the Dutchman’s standout performances in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals.
Speaking on The Overlap, as reported by Metro, Neville praised Dumfries’ impact in the second leg against Barcelona on Tuesday, May 6, a thrilling 4-3 win for Inter at the San Siro that secured their place in the final. Dumfries, 29, provided two assists in that match and finished the semi-final tie with two goals and three assists across both legs.
“Do you know what I kept thinking during the game?” Neville said. “With the way Man United are playing with a back-five and wing-backs under Ruben Amorim, I was thinking about that right wing-back.”
The former defender was emphatic in his endorsement of the Dutch international’s fit at Old Trafford. “I was thinking about Dumfries for United. I would like to see him in the Premier League, wouldn’t you? How good was he? He was unbelievable. He’s so good, so good.”
Dumfries had only recently returned from a hamstring injury that sidelined him during the quarter-final clashes against Bayern Munich, but his comeback has been nothing short of impressive.
With Manchester United increasingly linked to reinforcements in wide defensive positions—especially given Amorim’s emphasis on aggressive wing-back play—Dumfries could emerge as a top transfer target heading into the summer window.
