Former police chief Mohammed Adamu announces bid for Nasarawa governor in 2027

On Thursday, April 24, former Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, officially declared his intention to run for governor of Nasarawa State in the 2027 elections. He will contest under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Adamu made the announcement during a meeting with the State Working Committee of the APC in Lafia, the state capital. In his speech, the former police chief explained that his decision to run was inspired by a “clarion call” from the people of Nasarawa, who, he said, have faith in his leadership abilities and experience.

“I am answering the call of my people who believe I can serve and move Nasarawa forward,” Adamu stated. He further pledged that his administration would be inclusive, transparent, and focused on delivering meaningful development across all sectors if he were elected governor.

His declaration adds a powerful name to the growing list of aspirants for the governorship seat as the 2027 elections draw nearer.
