Former Eagles captain Ahmad Musa says FIFA ruling is Nigeria’s last hope for qualification

Former Super Eagles captain Ahmad Musa has stated that a FIFA decision regarding the South Africa vs. Lesotho match is Nigeria’s only remaining chance to qualify for the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Canada, Mexico, and the USA.

“Only a miracle would take Nigeria to the World Cup, because right now we are in deep trouble,” Musa said.

Speaking at his maiden press conference as the newly appointed General Manager of Kano Pillars on Thursday, July 10, 2025, Musa explained that if FIFA cancels Lesotho’s results against South Africa, the points could potentially be awarded to Nigeria.

Reports indicate that Lesotho fielded two players who were suspended due to accumulated yellow cards, which constitutes a violation of football regulations and could lead FIFA to annul the match results.

“Well, we are hopeful that we will make it to the World Cup, but honestly, right now we are in deep trouble. Only a miracle would take Nigeria to the tournament,” Musa added.
