FIFA CWC: Gareth Bale predicts Chelsea as genuine contenders for league title

Former Real Madrid and Tottenham star Gareth Bale has expressed confidence in Chelsea’s chances of winning the Premier League next season, following their impressive FIFA Club World Cup victory.
Chelsea defeated Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 on Sunday, with Cole Palmer scoring twice and Joao Pedro adding another goal to secure the trophy. This win, combined with their Europa Conference League triumph earlier this season, has raised hopes for the Blues’ future success.
Speaking to DAZN via Football.london, Bale said, “I do not think they are far away at all. Last season, they got to around Christmas, and everyone was talking about them being contenders. They have shown character as a team to come back and win the Conference League, and now win this. I think confidence will be booming and they will have that self-belief now.”
At 36, Bale acknowledges the growing momentum behind Chelsea under coach Enzo Maresca, who is in his first season at Stamford Bridge with two major trophies already in the cabinet. The Blues’ recent victory over European champions PSG was a stunning statement of intent ahead of the 2025 Premier League campaign.
