FIFA has officially confirmed Saudi Arabia as the host country for the 2034 World Cup. The announcement was made on Wednesday, December 11, by FIFA President Gianni Infantino during a virtual congress.
Both the 2030 and 2034 World Cups had only one bid, and over 200 FIFA member federations showed their approval with loud applause.
“We are bringing football to more countries, and the number of teams has not diluted the quality. It actually enhances the opportunity,” Infantino stated.
“The vote of the congress is loud and clear,” Infantino added, encouraging the officials to clap their hands at head level to demonstrate their support.
