Peter Obi, Alex Otti call crucial LP meeting, inviting top members, stakeholders

On Monday, April 7, two major figures from the Labour Party, Peter Obi, the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, and Abia State governor Alex Otti, announced they would be holding an important meeting for the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party.

The meeting is set to take place in Abuja on Wednesday, April 9, 2025. According to the notice shared by Obi and Otti, the NEC meeting will be followed by a special town hall event where party stakeholders will come together to discuss important matters. This session will take place at the Transcorp Hilton.

Ibrahim Umar, the spokesperson for the POMR, confirmed the announcement and forwarded the notice to DAILY POST. The stakeholders invited to the meeting include the vice presidential candidate from the 2023 election, current and former senators and senatorial candidates from the party, current and former members of the House of Representatives, as well as 2023 House of Representatives candidates.

Additionally, the invitation extends to all members of the National Caretaker Committee (NTC), former governorship candidates still in the party, representatives from the NLC/TUC Political Commission, and former members of the Labour Party National Working Committee (NWC).

This important meeting comes right after the Supreme Court ruling last week, which ended the leadership of Julius Abure’s NWC. The gathering is expected to be a key moment for the party as it moves forward.
