Fear spreads in Lafia as suspected assassins kill AEDC staff, steal motorcycle

Tension is high in the Tudun Kauri area of Lafia, Nasarawa State, after the brutal killing of a 37-year-old man, Yusuf Ibrahim Kasimu, late on Tuesday, May 7.
Yusuf, who worked for the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), was found face-down in a pool of blood near the INEC office, close to the Nasarawa Broadcasting Service (NBS). His head had been severely injured, and eyewitnesses described the scene as horrifying.
Locals believe Yusuf may have been attacked by people he was trying to help, who then stole his motorcycle and fled. His identity remained unknown until his family arrived and confirmed it was him.
Umaru Kasimu, his uncle, spoke with reporters and condemned the killing:
“This is a tragic and senseless loss. We demand justice,” he said, urging police and other security agencies to find those responsible.
This murder adds to a growing list of violent incidents in Lafia and surrounding areas, sparking public calls for stronger security measures to protect residents.
