Falana responds to allegation against him and issues ultimatum to VeryDarkMan

On Wednesday, September 25, human rights lawyer Femi Falana addressed an allegation made against him in a viral audio released by social media personality Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan.

Falana denounced the claim that he sought a presidential pardon for Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, in exchange for N10 million, calling it a “vicious, wicked, and reckless ploy” to tarnish his reputation.

He emphasized that he had never communicated with Bobrisky regarding any pardon or related matters.

In a letter from Falana’s legal representative, Taiwo Olawanle, the lawyer demanded that VeryDarkMan retract the allegations and issue a public apology across all platforms within 24 hours.

“The entire publication was a vicious, wicked and reckless ploy to impugn the reputation of our client and lower him in the estimation of right-thinking members of the public,” the letter stated. “We wish to state, without any fear of contradiction, that our client has never, in his life, spoken to Bobrisky on his alleged pardon or on any matter whatsoever.”

Falana’s team warned that failure to comply with the demands could lead to legal action, including claims for monetary damages, for the dissemination of defamatory statements.

Audio released by VeryDarkMan, Bobrisky alleged that some unnamed operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) accepted N15 million from him to drop money laundering charges. However, in an Instagram post on the same day, Bobrisky denied bribing any EFCC officers, asserting that he served his jail term.
