Eriksen faces criticism after comments following Man United’s Europa League draw

Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen has faced backlash for his comments in a post-match interview after the team’s disappointing 1-1 draw with Twente in the Europa League on Wednesday, September 25.

Although Eriksen scored in the 35th minute, helping United take the lead, he later conceded possession, allowing Twente to equalize. In his interview with TNT Sports, Eriksen remarked that Twente “looked like they wanted it more” than Manchester United.

This admission did not sit well with football pundits Owen Hargreaves and Karen Carney. Hargreaves commented, “It was interesting what he said there about them wanting it more. Obviously, you can’t have that. I didn’t get that impression myself. I thought United’s heads went down a bit after the goal, and that is not good enough. They didn’t get the job done.”

Carney echoed his sentiment, stating, “To hear that, you can’t have that. That’s unacceptable. You are at home, you’re winning, you should want it more and be ruthless. I don’t see the ruthless edge in this team at the minute.”
