Entire ADC leadership steps down as party transitions to 2027 opposition coalition

The entire leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) across all states has officially stepped down to facilitate the party’s transition into the 2027 opposition coalition.
Outgoing ADC National Chairman, Ralph O. Nwosu, announced on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, that Senator David Mark has been appointed interim National Chairman, while Rauf Aregbesola will serve as the party’s National Secretary.
This announcement came during a gathering of key opposition leaders at the Yar’Adua Centre for the official unveiling of the ADC as the coalition’s platform. Attendees included prominent figures such as Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Nasir El-Rufai, Rotimi Amaechi, and Rauf Aregbesola.
Other notable participants at the meeting were former APC National Chairman John Oyegun, former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, former Attorney General of the Federation Abubakar Malami, Dino Melaye, former Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalong, Dele Momodu, Senator Gabriel Suswam, Labour Party’s Senator Ireti Kingibe, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Emeka Ihedioha, and retired Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, among others.
The leadership change marks a strategic step towards unifying Nigeria’s opposition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
