El-Rufai officially joins ADC, vows to unseat Gov. Sani

Former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has formally registered as a member of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, declaring his intention to use the party’s platform to unseat the incumbent All Progressives Congress, APC government in the state.
Mr El-Rufai received his membership card on Thursday at the ADC ward office in Unguwar Sarki, Kaduna, where he addressed a crowd of supporters.
“I’m a bona fide member of the African Democratic Congress,” he announced.
The former FCT Minister explained why he left the Social Democratic Party, SDP, months after joining, alleging that some of its leaders were compromised.
“The SDP would not agree to open up to the coalition leadership because the government has bribed and compromised some of the leaders. Happily, the ADC agreed to the terms and conditions of the coalition leadership,” he said.
Mr El-Rufai noted that pending by-elections and local political contests had stalled his full involvement earlier but expressed readiness to now commit fully to the ADC.
He also thanked the organisers of the event, revealing that he was notified at short notice.
“I was informed at 6pm yesterday to be here at 4 o’clock. And I managed to get here,” he said.
The former governor urged eligible voters in the state to mobilise behind the ADC:
“I want to call on all citizens of Kaduna State of 18 years and above to come out en masse and register with the African Democratic Congress.”
He likened his new political mission to the 2015 victory against the PDP, saying:
“By the grace of God, we are going to repeat what we did in 2015, when we got rid of the incompetent, thieving and corrupt PDP administration.”
Mr El-Rufai also accused the current APC government in Kaduna of failing to deliver on its promises and ruling with impunity.
“We contributed to bringing them into office. We therefore have a duty to contribute to sending them back home before they go to prison,” he declared.
