#EkitiDecides2026: Over one million registered voters decide next state leader

With 1,059,360 registered voters set to decide Ekiti State’s next governor, the leading political parties have expressed absolute confidence in securing victory. The All Progressives Congress (APC) announced a target of 500,000 votes, while the opposition parties insisted they have the required grassroot support.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) claimed they would win comfortably in at least ten local governments. To protect their interests, the major political parties have collectively deployed over 7,000 polling agents across the state.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) State Publicity Secretary, Segun Dipe, stated that the ruling party expects to win by a landslide. He noted that the party intends to win all sixteen local government areas and make political history.
Security agencies deploy thousands of personnel to ensure peace
“Our expectation in the governorship election is to win by a landslide,” Segun Dipe told journalists. “We have a target of 500,000 votes.”
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have deployed thousands of operational personnel. The supervising Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Mustapha Fayoade, assured voters of adequate security before, during, and after the poll.
The European Union Support to Democratic Governance in Nigeria (EU-SDGN) hub has also urged the electoral body to maintain strict neutrality. Civil society leaders warned that any technical failure of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) could undermine public confidence.
This comprehensive state election preview relies on official party briefings and security updates published by Saturday PUNCH and reported by Daily Trust.
