Ekiti waste board member resigns, criticizes Governor Oyebanji for “lack of progress”

A member of the Ekiti State Waste Management Board, Mr. Wale Ade-Oba, has publicly criticized Governor Biodun Oyebanji over what he described as a lack of tangible development in the state, despite significant budgetary allocations.

In a strongly worded statement released on Wednesday, Ade-Oba announced his resignation from the Oyebanji-led administration and declared his support for the Pro-Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), Mr. Kayode Ojo. He described Ojo as “a visionary leader” capable of transforming Ekiti State.

“I’ve been serving as an appointee under the current administration led by Governor Biodun Oyebanji. However, after much reflection, I have decided to join forces with Engr. Kayode Ojo, a leader with a vision for a better Ekiti,” Ade-Oba stated.

He criticized the governor for being frequently absent from the state and pursuing what he called an “unclear agenda,” which, he said, has led to unproductive governance.

“Our party members are being overlooked and undervalued despite their hard work and dedication to the party’s success. Instead, opposition party members who did not contribute to our victory are being appointed to key positions,” he added.

Ade-Oba also pointed to the lack of development in his local government, Irepodun/Ifelodun, and other areas as evidence that the current administration is falling short of its promises.

He concluded by calling on others to join him in supporting Kayode Ojo, saying, “I want to be part of a government that truly serves the people of Ekiti and values the contributions of its loyal supporters.”

The statement signals growing discontent within the ruling party in Ekiti, potentially setting the stage for increased political realignment ahead of future elections.
