EFCC secures conviction of tiktok content creator for naira abuse in Kaduna

The Kaduna Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has secured the conviction of a TikTok and Instagram content creator, Muhammad Kabir, for abusing and mutilating the Naira.
Kabir, who operates under the handle @youngcee0066, was sentenced by Justice Rilwan Aikawa of the Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna. The court handed him a six-month prison term or an option of a ₦300,000 fine following his guilty plea.
The conviction followed his arrest on April 29, 2025, in Tudun Wada, Kaduna State, after a video surfaced on his social media pages showing him spraying and stepping on Naira notes while making provocative remarks in Hausa and daring the EFCC to arrest him.
He was charged with one count of violating Section 21(3) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Act, 2007, which criminalizes the abuse and mutilation of the Naira. Upon arraignment, Kabir pleaded guilty, leading the prosecution counsel, M.U. Gadaka, to request immediate sentencing.
The EFCC reiterated its commitment to upholding the sanctity of the Naira and enforcing laws against currency abuse.
