#EdoDecides2024: Davido speaks out against police advice for voters in Edo election

On Saturday, September 21, popular Nigerian artist David Adeleke, known as Davido, shared his thoughts about the advice given to voters during the ongoing Edo State gubernatorial election.

The Deputy Inspector General of Police, Frank Mba, had made a statement during an interview with Channels Television, encouraging Edo residents to vote and then head straight home. He said, “If you’re not accredited to participate in the election, you shouldn’t be on the streets. Cast your vote and return home; it’s your civic duty.”

Mba also announced that there would be a ban on cars in the state from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on election day.

Davido, who supports the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), disagreed with the suggestion to go home right after voting. He felt that voters should have the freedom to stay out a bit longer after casting their ballots.
