Ahead of the 2024 Edo Gubernatorial election, the bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto and member of the National Peace Committee, Bishop Matthew Kukah, has political leaders/ elects to make life much better for Nigerians.
The bishop made this statement during the 2024 Edo Election Security Townhall. He said, “Those we elect, we elect you not to enjoy on our behalf, we elect you to make life much better for the rest of us .”
The cleric added, ‘It is our hope and prayer that politics in Nigeria gets to the point that when we say there are elections, we will not be as nervous as we are… we will not have this high-wired tension among ourselves.”
Reacting to the conversation about the signing of the peace accord, Bishop Kukah said,
”What is also very interesting, is the current president who was the main presidential candidate did not sign the Peace Accord…for you not signing it sends the wrong signals.”
