Donald Trump finally speaks after failed assassination attempt
Donald Trump, the former President of the United States, has mentioned that a bullet grazed his right ear during the campaign rally shooting that occurred in Pennsylvania which left one person dead and several others critically injured.
Trump disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, July 14, saying that the injury caused him to bleed profusely.
“I want to thank The United States Secret Service, and all of Law Enforcement, for their rapid response on the shooting that just took place in Butler, Pennsylvania,” he said.
He then expressed his sadness and condolences to the families of those who were not fortunate enough to walk out of that terrible incident alive.
“Most importantly, I want to extend my condolences to the family of the person at the Rally who was killed, and also to the family of another person that was badly injured.”
Meanwhile, following the shooting, NIGERIANS ONLINE reports that the Secret Service responded as quickly as they could, rushing Trump off the stage and into an SUV.
They later confirmed that the “former President is safe”, before declaring the area an active crime scene.
Trump’s statement revealed that the shooter is now dead, though he added, “Nothing is known at this time about the shooter.”
The incident comes as Trump’s support among Americans garners momentum ahead of the upcoming 2024 presidential election in November.
Meanwhile, President Joe Biden and former President Barack Obama have issued statements expressing their disgust regarding political violence and wishing Trump a speedy recovery.
