DJ Jimmy Jatt reveals he lost his sight in 2020 and battled kidney disease

Nigerian DJ Oluwaforijimi Amu, known as DJ Jimmy Jatt, has opened up about his health struggles, including losing his sight in 2020 and later being diagnosed with chronic kidney disease. The popular DJ, who previously shared his story of undergoing a successful kidney transplant in 2022, spoke about his journey in a recent appearance on Channels TV’s Rubbin Minds with Ebuka.

DJ Jimmy Jatt explained that his health challenges began in 2020 when he decided to spend more time outside Nigeria after years of living primarily in Lagos. However, his plans took an unexpected turn when he began experiencing serious health issues, starting with the loss of his sight.

“I started having some health issues,” he shared. “There were travel restrictions at that time so I was just within Nigeria. I lost my sight. I had a surgery and I regained my sight.”

After regaining his sight, he decided to follow through with his plan of living abroad for a while. He relocated to the U.S., but soon after, he was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease and began undergoing dialysis.

He added, “Eventually, I came back to Nigeria and had a kidney transplant. After the transplant, I decided to be quiet for a while to recover properly. So immediately I was discharged, I left Nigeria again.”

Despite facing these challenges, DJ Jimmy Jatt continued working as a DJ in America and Europe while recovering. He returned to Nigeria in December.

DJ Jimmy Jatt clarified that lifestyle choices are not always the cause of kidney disease, as he has never smoked and had long stopped drinking alcohol. He revealed that his kidney issues were actually caused by diabetes.

His story highlights his resilience in overcoming significant health battles, and he continues to inspire his fans with his recovery.
