Deji Adeyanju urges Peter Obi to form alliance to beat Atiku in opposition coalition

Activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju has called on former presidential candidate Peter Obi to build alliances within the opposition coalition if he wants to defeat Atiku Abubakar for the coalition’s presidential ticket.

In a Facebook post, Adeyanju recalled how the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, nearly defeated Atiku during the 2022 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primaries. He said Obi and other presidential hopefuls in the coalition could easily overcome Atiku if they put in the effort.

“As at today, Atiku will secure the coalition ticket easily. I don’t see others putting in the work to stop him. They want the easy way out like the charade that happened between Obi and Pat Utomi in the Labour Party primaries during the last election.

“Atiku can be defeated in a primaries like in the 2014 APC primaries. Wike almost stopped him if not for Tambuwal’s last-minute joker.

“Form alliances with the northern key stakeholders and stop him instead of crying on Twitter that you should be given a free ticket. This is a coalition not the Labour Party. If you want a free ticket, go back to LP,” Adeyanju advised Obi.

This call to action comes shortly after Atiku officially resigned his membership of the PDP, citing that the party has deviated from its founding principles, which led to his “heartbreaking” decision to leave.
