Defence HQ launches investigation into terrorism claims involving Matawalle
The Defence Headquarters has initiated an investigation into allegations of terrorism sponsorship involving the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, and Zamfara Governor, Dauda Lawal.
This probe follows accusations from both parties, with the governor claiming Matawalle is linked to bandits, while Matawalle alleged the governor is collaborating with terrorists.
Major General Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, stated that relevant agencies are working to uncover the truth. He emphasized the military’s recent successes in combating terrorism, including the elimination of 65 terrorist leaders, but noted that community support is crucial for sustained success.
Additionally, the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) reported the arrest of a key Boko Haram logistics courier in Borno State, marking a significant setback for the group’s operations in the Lake Chad region.
