D’banj plans 20 concerts in 20 cities for 20th career anniversary

To mark 20-years on the music scene, Afrobeat superstar Oladapo ‘D’banj’ Oyebanjo is set to stage a free concert for his fans.

According to the entertainer, the show will be held at the New Afrika Shrine, Ikeja, on June 11.

“I will be celebrating my 20th anniversary on June 11 at the Shrine. It is free of charge for everybody, as I’m going to be giving back to you (fans) for all that you’ve given to me,” he said.

The 43-year-old performer also announced plans to host 20 shows in 20 cities in Nigeria before touring other African countries, then America, and Europe.

He will then return to Nigeria in December for the Koko Festival.

“On June 7, there will be a VIP dinner to celebrate my birthday, followed by the launch of my new album, ‘Entertainer: The Sequel.’ By December, we are going to have the Koko Festival. Just get ready and stand still.”

D’banj joined the Nigerian music industry with his up-tempo single entitled, ‘Tongolo’ in December 2004 upon his return from the United Kingdom.

He followed up with his debut album, ‘No Long Thing’, which was released in 2005.
