Davido and Victony react to school abduction

Prominent Nigerian musicians have joined the growing national call for the immediate rescue of pupils, students, and teachers abducted by gunmen in Oyo State. The mass kidnapping occurred on May 15, 2026, across three separate schools including Baptist Nursery and Primary School in Oriire Local Government Area.
Available records show that the criminal elements seized 39 students and seven teachers, while killing two additional educators during the raid. Afrobeats superstar Victony took to his X handle to directly challenge President Bola Tinubu to confront the escalating security crisis.
“Save our children & Put an end to this mess @officialABAT,” the singer wrote in a blunt post that has since triggered widespread reactions online. Reports from PUNCH indicate that the ongoing captivity of the school children has renewed intense pressure on the federal government.
Timaya calls for urgent presidential intervention
Grammy-nominated artist Davido also expressed his deep sadness over the continuous suffering of the young victims currently trapped in the abduction camps. Using his Snapchat page, the music icon lamented the worsening state of national security and offered prayers for the affected families.
“I’m weak. God pls take control. We can’t continue like this… my heart goes out to the victims and family .. this is messed up,” Davido stated. His public outcry aligns with identical statements from other entertainment stakeholders who demand stronger kinetic action from security agencies.
In a similar vein, dancehall veteran Timaya released an official press statement urging the Presidency to collaborate across security lines to stop the kidnappings. According to DAILY POST and Vanguard Nigeria, Timaya emphasized that the country requires immediate urgency to address the growing security challenges facing vulnerable communities.
