British-Nigerian rapper and singer Oluwafisayo Isa, known as Darkoo, has expressed how sharing her sexuality with her parents lifted a significant weight off her shoulders.
In a recent episode of The Appointment Show podcast hosted by Layo, Darkoo shared her feelings of happiness since coming out to her mother. She stated, “The day I told my mom [about my sexuality], it felt like a massive weight off my shoulder… I’ve been happy since then.”
Darkoo noted that opening up to her parents was a relief, particularly for her mother, who found the conversation emotional due to their close bond. “It was hard on my mom more than my dad because I’m closer to her,” she explained. “My dad was not really interested in the conversation, but at the end of the day, I’m living my life. And that’s what I’m doing.”
