Dangote names refinery road after president Tinubu

Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has named the main road leading to the Dangote Refinery in Lagos after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in honour of the president’s contributions to the realization of the multibillion-dollar project.

Dangote made the announcement on Thursday during the official commissioning of the Deep Sea Port Access Road in Lagos State  a critical infrastructure linking the Dangote Fertiliser Plant to the Eleko Junction. He described Tinubu as the “brainchild” behind the refinery complex and praised his administration for creating renewed confidence in the private sector.

“The main road going into our refinery is now going to be called Bola Ahmed Tinubu Road,” Dangote declared, drawing applause from dignitaries as President Tinubu rose to shake hands with him.

The billionaire commended Tinubu’s “courageous” and “ambitious” leadership, adding that the current administration has inspired greater investment in national development. “This has given us the confidence to do more in supporting your government,” he said.

The newly inaugurated access road is part of a larger 500-kilometre infrastructure initiative across the country, including two road projects in Borno State designed to connect Nigeria with neighbouring Chad and Cameroon. The Lagos stretch of the road links the Epe–Ijebu-Ode axis with the Sagamu–Benin Expressway, significantly boosting logistics and trade in the region.

The event marked a symbolic moment in the public-private partnership under Tinubu’s administration, underscoring the federal government’s emphasis on infrastructure development and economic integration.
