Cynthia Morgan arrested for allegedly harassing Benin Crown Prince
Nigerian singer, Cynthia Morgan has been arrested for allegedly cyberstalking the Crown Prince of Benin, HRH Ezelakhae Ewuare.
This development stems from last year when the Prince threatened legal action against the singer for accusing him of witchcraft.
Cynthia Morgan had made allegations against the Prince, whom she tagged her former lover, claiming he had placed curses on her which hinders her from marrying someone else.
She narrated her emotional and spiritual distress, vowing that he would face repercussions for his actions. Now, the Prince has commenced legal proceedings against her, citing charges of defamation, cyberstalking, and harassment.
Furthermore, leaked WhatsApp messages purportedly from the singer and a video allegedly depicting her arrest have circulated online.
A petition filed against Morgan alleges a pattern of behaviour that includes defamation, cyberstalking, and harassment, among other charges.
Here are the 10 allegations levelled against Morgan
1. Defamation: Morgan allegedly published lies and defamatory statements against Prince Ezelekhae Ewuare on her Instagram story and other online platforms.
2. Cyberstalking: Morgan allegedly stalked and harassed Prince Ezelekhae Ewuare online, despite his efforts to block her.
3. Harassment: Morgan allegedly continued to contact Prince Ezelekhae Ewuare despite his clear desire to be left alone.
4. Online harassment: Morgan allegedly published offensive material about Prince Ezelekhae Ewuare on her Instagram story and other online platforms.
5. False accusations: Morgan allegedly accused Prince Ezelekhae Ewuare of bewitching and oppressing her in her dreams.
6. Obsession: Morgan allegedly exhibited obsessive behaviour towards Prince Ezelekhae Ewuare, despite his lack of interest in her.
7. Mental instability: Morgan’s behaviour was allegedly linked to some form of mental trauma or instability.
8. Threats: Morgan’s actions allegedly posed a threat to Prince Ezelekhae Ewuare’s safety and security.
9. Invasion of privacy: Morgan allegedly violated Prince Ezelekhae Ewuare’s right to privacy by continuing to contact him despite his efforts to block her.
10. Criminal offences: Morgan’s actions allegedly constituted criminal offences under the Cybercrimes Act, of 2015, including cyberstalking and harassment.
