Ganduje gets strong backing from North-Central APC leaders to stay as party chairman

On Wednesday, February 12, 2025, the North-Central All Progressives Congress (APC) Forum showed their full support for Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the party’s National Chairman, by passing a vote of confidence in him.
During a meeting in Abuja, the Forum praised Ganduje for leading the party to victories, including recent governorship elections in Ondo and Edo states. They also highlighted the increasing number of people switching parties to join the APC, making the party stronger.
“No team wants to change a coach who keeps winning trophies,” the Forum stated.
Looking ahead:
The Forum also expressed their belief that Ganduje is the right person to lead the APC into the 2027 general elections. This endorsement comes after months of uncertainty when the Forum had pushed for Ganduje’s removal in favor of a North-Central candidate, as the national chairman position was supposed to go to their region.
Back in 2022, Abdullahi Adamu, from Nasarawa State, was elected National Chairman. But when he resigned in July 2023, Ganduje stepped in as his replacement, even though some in the North-Central wanted the region to maintain control of the position.
The Forum had even filed a lawsuit asking for Ganduje’s removal, but the court dismissed it, and in October 2024, they suspended their demand.
Ganduje’s support grows:
Now, the Forum has fully endorsed Ganduje’s leadership. They stated that, after consulting with leaders across the region, they are confident in his ability to continue leading the party. The North-Central APC Forum acknowledged that their zone has already received most of their demands, like key ministerial appointments, which would not have happened without Ganduje’s leadership.
Some of the North-Central ministers include:
- Prince Lateef Fagbemi (Ministry of Justice, Kwara)
- Mohammed Idris (Ministry of Information, Niger)
- Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda (Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Plateau)
- Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim (Ministry of Women Affairs, Nasarawa)
- Zephaniah Bitrus Jisalo (Ministry of Special Duties, FCT)
- Prof. Joseph Utsev (Ministry of Water Resources, Benue)
The Forum also highlighted the creation of the North-Central Development Commission, which President Bola Tinubu signed into law, following their strong push for it.
Infrastructure projects:
Additionally, the Forum pointed out that critical infrastructure projects, like new roads, are now being focused on in the North-Central region.
While they support Ganduje’s leadership, they also encouraged him to keep working closely with the region’s elders to continue building unity and support.
Finally, in gratitude to President Bola Tinubu, the North-Central APC Forum pledged to deliver four million votes for him in the 2027 election.
