Commissioner says criminals won’t go scot-free

Imo State Commissioner for Information, Declan Emelumba, says the state government is tightening its grip on security, vowing that no criminal will escape justice.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Lunchtime Politics, Emelumba said Imo has made major strides in fighting crime, declaring: “There is no hiding place for criminals anymore.”

Suspect arrested in Ideato North killings
He was responding to public concern after the killing of seven people in Ideato North LGA. While acknowledging the delay in the suspect’s arrest, Emelumba said the government should be “commended” for ensuring justice was served.

“Yes, it took some time, but the most important thing is that he was arrested,” he said.

Security has improved — but it’s not perfect
Emelumba admitted Imo is not totally free of crime, but insisted the state is safer now than in past years.

“We still have breaches here and there, like every other society. But these cases are no longer as frequent,” he said.

His comments come as state authorities face pressure to do more, with residents demanding visible, lasting solutions to growing security threats.
