CMA: Shaboozey relishes nominations, sympathises with Beyoncé’s snub

Nigerian-American musician, Collins Obinna Chibueze, popularly known as Shaboozey, has relished bagging two nominations at the 2024 Country Music Awards.

Shaboozey was nominated in the New Artist of the Year category, while the hit chart-topping song, ‘Tipsy (A Bar Song)’ was nominated in the Single of the Year category.

Celebrating his achievement in a statement on X on Monday, September 9, Shaboozey said he sang about winning a CMA in 2016.

He wrote, “Wrote a song about winning a CMA in 2016, and now I’m nominated for 2! Thank you @CountryMusic and congrats to the other nominees. What an honor would be an understatement. #CMAawards”

Meanwhile, Shaboozey has paid tribute to Beyoncé who received zero nominations at the 2024 Country Music Awards, for “opening a door” for Black country musicians.

He noted that Beyoncé’s country album ‘Cowboy Cater’ is one of the most innovative country albums of all time.

He wrote, “That goes without saying. Thank you @Beyonce for opening a door for us, starting a conversation, and giving us one of the most innovative country albums of all time!”

Shaboozey has previously revealed that working with Beyoncé on her country album ‘Cowboy Cater’ changed his life.

His song ‘Tipsy (A Bar Song)’ peaked number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
