Chidimma Adetshina announces departure from pageantry, cites trauma
Chidimma Adetshina, the Miss Universe runner-up, has officially announced her decision to step away from the world of pageantry, revealing that it has been a traumatic experience for her.
In a candid interview with Silverbird TV on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, Adetshina shared the personal reasons behind her decision. “Finishing in the top 2 [at the Miss Universe competition] is still a shocker for me… Honestly, I am done. Pageantry was a real traumatic experience for me,” she confessed.
Adetshina, who earned the title of Miss Universe Africa and Oceania after her impressive 1st runner-up finish, spoke about the emotional toll the pageant had on her. “People still don’t understand how I felt. There were times when I almost quit during the Miss Universe contest. I’m really done with pageantry,” she added.
The beauty queen, who had previously withdrawn from the Miss South Africa contest due to scrutiny over her nationality, emphasized that her decision was driven by a desire to focus on herself, further her education, and establish a new personal path.
“I want to focus on myself and establish who I am. And forward my education as well,” she stated.
Adetshina’s departure marks the end of a significant chapter in her career, following her success and recognition on the international pageant stage.
