Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson claps back, tells Mikel Obi to ‘shut up’

Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson has hit back at former midfielder Mikel Obi, who recently criticized his performance. Jackson told Mikel to “shut your mouth” after the ex-Chelsea star suggested Jackson missed too many chances in the match against Manchester City on August 18.

Mikel also suggested that Chelsea might consider signing Victor Osimhen as a potential replacement.

In response, Jackson shared a post from the popular soccer page on social media, celebrating his opening goal in Chelsea’s 6-2 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers. The post highlighted that Jackson’s goal was the fastest Premier League goal for Chelsea since 2017.

Jackson took to Instagram to directly address Mikel’s comments, writing, “Mikel Obi, shut your mouth, don’t talk sh*t, we are killing ourselves for Africa.” He made it clear he was not happy with the criticism.

During the match against Wolves, Jackson scored the opening goal within the first two minutes.

Mikel had criticized Jackson’s goal-scoring ability on beIN Sport during Chelsea’s 2-0 loss to Manchester City, saying, “We created chances but didn’t take them. Jackson misses opportunities even when he’s in good positions. We need a striker who can consistently score goals, like Haaland at Manchester City.”

Mikel added, “I know I talk a lot about him and it might sound disrespectful, but I don’t mean to disrespect him. We need a top striker who can get us goals.”

Chelsea will face Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, September 1, in their third Premier League match of the season.
