Chelsea leaves out Félix, Sterling from Club World Cup squad as Man City complete four signings

Chelsea have excluded João Félix and Raheem Sterling from their squad for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.

The duo will not be part of Enzo Maresca’s team for the tournament, as the Blues continue to explore transfer market options to find solutions regarding the Portuguese and English forwards.

Meanwhile, Chelsea’s new signing Dário Essugo will take over João Félix’s former number 14 jersey.

In contrast, Manchester City have been busy ahead of the tournament, completing four new signings: French winger Rayan Cherki from Lyon, defender Rayan Aït-Nouri from Wolves, goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli from Chelsea, and midfielder Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan.

City manager Pep Guardiola, disappointed with last season’s results—including their FA Cup final loss to Crystal Palace—is eager to capitalize on the new additions and start winning trophies, beginning with the FIFA Club World Cup starting in just a few days.
