Chelsea confirm new shirt numbers for Cole Palmer and Liam Delap

Chelsea have confirmed updated squad numbers for the upcoming 2025/26 season, with Cole Palmer set to wear the No. 10 shirt, while new signing Liam Delap will take the No. 9 jersey.
Palmer, who joined Chelsea from Manchester City in the summer of 2023, had previously worn No. 20. The switch to No. 10 signals his growing status at the club following a standout debut season.
Meanwhile, 22-year-old Liam Delap has been handed the No. 9 shirt, a number that has proven difficult for several of Chelsea’s past strikers, including Romelu Lukaku, Alvaro Morata, and Fernando Torres.
Delap arrives at Stamford Bridge in a £30 million transfer following Chelsea’s activation of his release clause at Ipswich Town. Despite Ipswich’s relegation last season, the young forward impressed enough to earn an immediate return to the Premier League.
In a club statement, Chelsea noted:
“Supporters are reminded that the full list of squad numbers for the 2025/26 season will be finalised once the summer transfer window has shut.”
The official confirmation of the full squad numbers is expected later in the summer.
