El-Rufai calls Kaduna Governor Uba Sani a betrayer, says he lost a friend

On Wednesday, February 26, 2025, former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai took to social media to share his thoughts on his successor, Governor Uba Sani, calling him a “betrayer” and saying he had lost a friend.

The drama started when an X user named @UI_Wakili posted an image of Sani with the caption, “The face of a betrayer.” The user, who is a big supporter of El-Rufai, added, “The face of a betrayer, the man who is hell-bent on seeing the downfall of everyone who refused to sleep to ensure he is where he is today. No workings, just betrayal.”

El-Rufai responded by posting a laughing emoji and saying, “He betrayed himself and lost a friend.”

Just a few days ago, El-Rufai made it clear that Sani was no longer his friend. He explained, “Look, Uba Sani has been my friend for many years, but he is not my friend anymore. For me, the word ‘friendship’ is a very important concept. God gave us our relatives. He chose our relatives for us—we have no choice. But thank God, we can choose our friends.”

He went on to say, “A friend is someone that has some fidelity, some ethical and moral standards, and will be there for you when you need him—not just when there is time to party or enjoy.”

The tension between them grew after Sani’s government started an investigation into El-Rufai’s administration, accusing the former governor’s team of mismanaging N423 billion.

It looks like their relationship has come to an end, and things are heating up between the two leaders.
