Burna Boy’s ‘on the low’ hits platinum in the US, earns third RIAA certification

Afrobeats megastar Burna Boy has reached a new milestone in his international music career, as his 2019 hit ‘On The Low’ has officially sold 1 million units in the United States, making it eligible for a platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

The achievement, confirmed by popular music chart tracker Chart Data, marks Burna Boy’s third RIAA platinum plaque, following the success of ‘YE’ and ‘Last Last’.

Released as a lead single off his Grammy-nominated album ‘African Giant’, On The Low not only became a global fan favorite but also earned gold certifications in countries like the UK, Canada, Sweden, Netherlands, Switzerland, and Denmark. The track’s latest U.S. certification brings Burna Boy’s total RIAA recognitions to seven, solidifying his position as one of the most certified Nigerian artists in the U.S. market.

Beyond sales, Burna Boy’s impact is also reflected in his presence on the Billboard Hot 100, where he has logged six entries, with ‘Last Last’ peaking at No. 44, his highest-charting single to date.

His Grammy win for ‘Twice As Tall’, which secured Best Global Music Album, further emphasized his status as a pioneer in taking African music global.

Burna Boy is now gearing up for the release of his eighth studio album, ‘No Sign of Weakness’, which promises cross-genre collaborations with legendary names like Mick Jagger, Travis Scott, Shaboozey, and Stromae.

Following the album drop, the Nigerian superstar will embark on a North American tour, with scheduled performances across major U.S. cities as he continues to expand his global footprint.
