BREAKING: Rivers Sole Administrator Ibas suspends all political official holders
On Wednesday, March 26, 2025, the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, announced that all political office holders and appointees in the state have been suspended.
The Chief of Staff to the Sole Administrator shared this news in a statement, confirming that the suspension will take effect immediately.
This action follows the powers granted to Ibas by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The suspension includes the Secretary to the State Government, the Chief of Staff, commissioners, board chairmen and members, as well as all special assistants.
The statement explained that these suspended officials must hand over their duties to the Permanent Secretaries in their ministries. If there is no Permanent Secretary, they are to hand over to the most senior Director or Head of Administration.
