Breaking: Gen Tsiga freed after 56 days in kidnappers’ den

On Wednesday, April 2, Brigadier-General Maharazu Tsiga, a retired leader of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), was released after being held for 56 days by kidnappers.

Tsiga was taken from his hometown in Bakori, Katsina State, on Thursday, February 5, along with nine other people. Despite his family paying a ransom to the kidnappers, Tsiga was held for several more weeks before finally being let go.

There were different reports about the ransom amount. Some said it was N60 million, but other sources mentioned that the actual amount paid was three times that.

One of Tsiga’s family members shared that after the ransom was paid, the kidnappers didn’t say anything for a whole week before letting Tsiga talk to his family. They later asked for more money, but no more payments were made.

Tsiga is now free and in good health. He is being moved to Abuja from Zamfara State. His family is overjoyed to have him back safely, and a senior military official confirmed that he is finally free.
