Victor Boniface’s highly anticipated move to Al Nassr is now in jeopardy, as fresh developments have cast doubt on his transfer to the Saudi Pro League side.
The Nigerian forward had been on the brink of completing a €60 million transfer from Bayer Leverkusen to Al Nassr, with both clubs reportedly having agreed on the fee. Boniface, 24, had passed his medical, and was preparing to join the ranks of the Saudi club alongside five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo.
Further reports suggested that Boniface had also agreed to a lucrative annual net wage of €15 million.
However, new developments indicate that the deal has unexpectedly stalled. Sources reveal that while Boniface was packed and ready to travel to the Middle East, Al Nassr is now also in negotiations with Aston Villa for Colombian striker Jhon Duran.
Leverkusen is still awaiting the final signatures for Boniface’s transfer, but they have been informed that Al Nassr may only sign one of the two forwards. Duran, 21, is believed to have already agreed to personal terms with Al Nassr, and his representatives are optimistic about finalizing the deal.
Aston Villa has also reportedly received a €70 million offer for Duran, which has added another layer of uncertainty to Boniface’s dream move.
