BNXN blasts Fat Joe over claim that afrobeats originated from Jamaica

Nigerian singer BNXN has criticised American rapper Fat Joe over his controversial claim that Afrobeats originated from Jamaica.
Fat Joe made the claim during a recent podcast, where he also suggested that BNXN changed his former stage name “Buju” due to Jamaican dancehall artiste Buju Banton.
Reacting on Thursday via his X handle, BNXN urged the rapper to educate himself on African music and its history.
He also dismissed the comments as misinformation and accused Fat Joe of disrespecting the genre and its artists.
BNXN wrote: “The hate in your heart and your misinformation about African music and its artists is why your chromosomes are all f**ked up.”
The remarks have sparked conversations online, with fans debating the origins and global influence of Afrobeats, a genre that has gained widespread international recognition in recent years.
