Billionaire Elon Musk ‘interested’ in acquiring Liverpool, father reveals
Errol Musk, father of the billionaire Elon Musk, has stated that his son is interested in purchasing Liverpool Football Club. However, he expressed concern that the current owners, Fenway Sports Group (FSG), might increase the asking price if they know of Musk’s interest.
Elon Musk, with a net worth around £340 billion, is the owner of Tesla and X and is looking to invest in the Premier League club based in Merseyside. Errol Musk voiced his worries about a potential price hike during an interview on Times Radio on Tuesday, January 7, 2025:
“I can’t comment on that, they’ll raise the price!
“Oh yes, [he has expressed a desire], but that doesn’t mean he’s buying it.
“He would like to yes, obviously. Anybody would want to – so would I.
“His grandmother was born in Liverpool, and we have relatives in Liverpool, and we were fortunate to know quite a few of the Beatles because they grew up with some of my family. So, we are attached to Liverpool you know.”
FSG took control of Liverpool from George Gillett and Tom Hicks back in 2010, and the club is now reportedly valued at £4.3 billion. Given Elon Musk’s wealth, which is 80 times that valuation, any potential offer from him would likely be a significant consideration for the club’s future.
