Benue PDP crisis: Ortom’s faction opens new secretariat
Former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom’s faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has opened a new secretariat in Benue State.
The secretariat is located at the Oracle Business Cooperative office owned by Ortom along Jonah Jang Road in High Level, Makurdi. Ortom’s supporters announced on Facebook that he donated this space to the party after they were abruptly evicted from their previous location on Monday.
The earlier accommodation is reportedly owned by another former governor who is involved in a power struggle within the party. Meanwhile, activities continue as usual at the official PDP secretariat located on Ochagwu Street in New GRA, Makurdi.
A staff member from the official secretariat, who wished to remain anonymous, stated that they were unaware of the new secretariat’s opening.
While addressing supporters at the new location on Monday, Ortom emphasized his commitment as the leader of the Benue PDP, stating that he needed to create a conducive environment for the party to operate. He expressed his determination to help the PDP regain power in 2027.
Ortom also promised to support all party candidates in the upcoming local government elections in the state and urged the Caretaker Committee to work towards uniting the different factions within the party.
