Benue: Gov Alia denies plans to leave APC for SDP

On Thursday, March 12, Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State firmly denied rumors that he was planning to leave the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, on Wednesday in Makurdi, Governor Alia emphasized that he had never considered leaving the party that helped him secure his position in office.
Alia stated that those spreading such false rumors on social media were simply trying to create division between him and President Bola Tinubu.
“These actions not only wholly miss the mark, but they also reveal a significant lack of awareness regarding my bond with the president,” he said. “The claims that I am considering a move to the Social Democratic Party, alongside Mallam Nasir El-Rufai and others, are completely baseless and lack any credible evidence.”
The governor, a former Catholic priest turned politician, also highlighted his role in reviving the APC in Benue, a party that had been struggling before the 2019 elections. He concluded by asserting that any attempts to undermine his leadership would be unsuccessful.
